Mad Bomber had planted his first bomb on November 16, 1940. It wasn’t a well-made bomb and it didn’t explode. The bomb was discovered by the Consolidated Edison Company’s worker at their on the building’s windowsill, hidden inside a toolbox.
The was made of a short length of brass pipe, stuffed with gunpowder that the police Bomb Squad believed had been taken from riffle bullets. Sadly, police did not find any fingerprints on it.
Police only discovered a note wrapped around it. The note said:
“Con Edison crooks, this is for you.”
